One of my best trekking experience was when I had the pleasure to travel
with my oldest son Martin (16y), to Leh and Ladakh in North India. We went
the Marka valley trek together with 15 young students from Norway. As we
started in the end of June and the summer heath was at it’s best with 40
degrees and no wind to chill us, the two first days was a challenge, and
every one was so happy when we reached 4100 meter and got some cold weather.
Sometimes when travel and trekking in India and Nepal, it is always exiting
to see if the stomach can take care of the new food….. We was so lucky on
this trip, and I would say it was thanks to the Sherpas who made all the
food. After seven days, some of us reached 5300 meter, and what a view ! In
the north we had Pakistan and Karakoram with Nanga Parmat, and to the east
we had The Himalayas and the view in to China. Back at our camp at 4750
meter, we had an other day in hot weather and my son and a friend had a
“nice” bath in the river. Refreshing ! They said….. ( see attached photo).
It was a 10 days trek in lovely and unspoiled nature, and we was lucky to
see many wild animals, even in this hard living nature where it is almost
nothing to eat. After the trek we stayed in Leh and had two days with home
stay at an local family and friendship was made with this friendly Ladakhish
people. We will come back again, and again….

Einar
