Doing all the Slieves
What’s the craic? A much heard ‘hello’ here in iIreland!!!
I’m officially in the UK, but crossing borders now and then, trying to fit in some training for Mt. Kilimanjaro in 6 weeks time.. Last week, i’ve been up to Slieve Donard and Slieve Binnian here in the Mourne Mountains. Quite a contrast after 4 weeks in India. So green, so structured (even though its the outdoors.. it feels structured!), so much… colder! The weather changes all the time: from sunny to hail and back again, its all part of the charm.
I’m hoping to do some more Slieves this week, as its good training to be able to climb when walking. I dont have that luxury at home and all i can do to imitate walking uphill is taking the stairs… a 1000 times.
I’me also becoming slowly somewhat of an expert in mud-hiking… What i’ve see so far in Ireland, is that its boggy and muddy… But mud can be FUN!!!! Jumping from one dry (ish) patch to another… miscalculate, and see your ankle dissapear: yeah, its fun!
