Biography
As a child Marit loved to sit on her father’s shoulders during hiking trips, which is how she came to love the mountains and the freedom that hiking represents. She had her first major hiking adventure in the Tafjord Mountains years ago when she walked from Brøste in Romsdalen to Tafjord , Sunnmøre with a friend. However, this trip also taught her that hiking in the mountains in heavy rain is not something she enjoys doing. In 2006 Marit joined an arranged hiking trip for one week on Crete – she says it was an absolutely fantastic experience: Climbing to the top of the mountains, walking by the coastline and through beautiful gorges, visiting small villages and, at the end of the day have a bath in the Libyan sea.
Marit is hoping to share her fantastic experiences with others and prove that life as a hiker does not stop at the age of 50 – even if you are a woman!

A minute or two later the sign to Syltesetra appears and you turn left. The road passes Syltesetra and leads you to this sign. Simple as that! The trail is not marked,

At end of August I joined an organized KNT-tour in the Sunndal mountains Vangshaugen, owned by KNT, where our trip started and ended. Hafsåssetra. We followed the T-marked trail from Hafsåsen to Rauberghytta. Falesetra. Looking back to Geitåa. Rauberghytta Sunday morning. First break on our way to Seterfjellet. No waymarked trails. We had to find our own route through the steep and stony terrain. Still a lot of snow. The edge from Seterfjellet to Styggløypet. Looking west: Storskarhøa. Looking

Trip in Norway ~ Beginner difficulty
On a calm, lightly clouded day in the beginning of July, we took the ferry to the south side of the fjord to climb the mountains I looked at every day through my childhood. A great experience! Map: NORGE 1: 50 000 Blad 1218 IV Ålfoten (STATENS KARTVERK) The trip started at a steep forest road. No trail, but in an open terrain like this, that is no problem.

Tourist map: Kristiansund 1: 50 000 (UGLAND IT GROUP) Snøtind in Eide is the highest, and one of the most beautiful mountains in our area. It is high, it is steep and you have to exert yourself to reach the top,- but when you have done it, I’ll assure you that you feel it’s worth it. This is not a trip for wet and foggy days!

Freikollen, the way we see it from Ristuva, Averøy. Touristmap: Kristiansund 1 : 50 000 ( UGLAND IT-GROUP ) As you can se on the map, there are several routes leading to Freikollen. Touristmap: Molde 1: 50 000 (UGLAND IT GROUP) On Whit Monday the sky was blue and we decided to ignore the wind, the low temperature and the fresh snow on the tops. We started off to Melen (768 m) and Sjurvarden (667 m),- two beautiful mountains on the mainland, not far from here. The car trip over Atlanterhavsveien (The Atlantic Ocean Road) is just a bonus,
