Biography

Spending his work week in Silicon Valley Trent is eager to leave the metro behind in favour of tall, old-growth redwoods along the California coastline or the fresh mountain air of the Sierras. As a youth Trent’s mother and grandparents introduced him to hiking around the San Francisco Bay Area and Sierras. Considered a moderate hiker, he has accomplished hikes in Yosemite, Kings Canyon, Big Sur, Los Padres National Forest, the Santa Cruz Mountains, Death Valley, Zions National Park, the Grand Canyon, as well as the coast of Jamaica and the interior of Brasil. This summer he will travel to Costa Rica to trek through the back-country of the Osa Penninsula and Machu Picchu. Trent has a special affinity with hiking throughout the Americas and hopes one day his adventures will take him to Australia and New Zealand.

Trip in United States ~ Beginner difficulty

By far my favorite hike of the last year was heading up to the Lost Coast - which is located in King Range National Conservational Area, along the Northern California Coastline 150 miles south of the Oregon border. (Click here for photos.) Conditions were grey, wet, and the winds were gusting. About three hours into the hike, we were all pretty much soaked. The nylon,
