Date: Sometime in JulySummary: The Unraveling of a Year-long PlanLocation: Close to Paradise Nearly 4 months have passed since blogging about the last adventure. Hiking the Salkantay Trek into Machu Picchu was simply amazing. Since then I have been able to pursue more great adventures across California and into Arizona. I decided again to skip the ‘Heart attack breakfast buffet’, which they served across the street from my motel and settled for a coup of coffee and a multi vitamin pill. Anyhow the rich elk steak from previous night was still making me feel more than content and by my age I have learned that my body will tell me when I need to

After a LOOOONG flight and a very bizarre interrogation at the US customs, I finally made a touch down to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. A pitch-black and rather cold night greeted me at the front door off the airport as I tried to find a transportation to the town. Very helpful and friendly ‘dude’ offered me a ride to town with his beat up van.

At long last I have escaped the indoors and christened my lovely Ecco kit! I’ve just got back from a couple of weeks skiing in Colorado, so not true hiking but at least it was outdoors! We stayed in Breckenridge, which is quite a few metres above my home in London. As a result, most of the skiing took place at about 3500 metres above sea

The start of the year has been slow going and we’ve been suffering from a most awful weather in Finland. No snow means no skiing, so training has been mainly easy jogging three times a week. I have also tried my new Ecco boots by just walking in the woods to see how they fit. The Chamonix X-Factor model is very rigid and even though

By far my favorite hike of the last year was heading up to the Lost Coast - which is located in King Range National Conservational Area, along the Northern California Coastline 150 miles south of the Oregon border. (Click here for photos.) Conditions were grey, wet, and the winds were gusting. About three hours into the hike, we were all pretty much soaked. The nylon,

Put on your thermals and pack up your –20 sleeping bag, because my next destination will involve lots of SNOW! In the coldest month of the year, I will travel westwards, to the States and Canada. I will visit the areas around Chicago, San Francisco and Vancouver, to see new places, enjoy the wonders of winter, and challenge myself in the mountains again. Being
